Mission
The Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists was founded in 1912 and has grown to nearly 3,000 members. PCSO is comprised of component organizations and is the largest constituent organization of the American Association of Orthodontists.
PCSO Mission
The Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists is a professional organization of orthodontic specialists whose mission is to help its members provide the highest level of care to the public by providing quality continuing education, providing a framework for a strong political voice, facilitating two-way communications between the organization and its members, and supporting the successful practice of orthodontics.
In 2009, PCSO Leadership identified the critical issues facing the orthodontic profession in their region. These issues are considered in every PCSO initiative
PCSO Critical Issues
In 2009, PCSO leadership identified the following four critical issues facing its members. PCSO plans to focus its current efforts in these areas.
- PCSO will add value to membership by identifying the needs, wants and desires of membership using current demographic data
- PCSO will enhance each member’s ability to educate current and prospective patients
- PCSO will build alliances with study groups, components, orthodontic programs and vendors in order to enhance the orthodontic profession
- PCSO will provide education for members in the current challenging economic environment
