Summary of Actions
PCSO Board of Director's Meeting
March 24-25, 2001, San Francisco, CA

The Interim Board meeting was held at the San Francisco Airport Westin Hotel on March 24 & 25. Highlights included:

Approval of the New Member Committee to schedule a presentation and social function for new members prior to the 2001 Hawaii Annual Session.
Approval to request the AAO consider sponsoring research into the effects of materials in some orthodontic appliances identified by the State of California as hazardous.
Approval of the following five resolutions to be considered by the 2001 AAO House of Delegates (see above 2001 House of Delegates):

Recommend the AAO to consider research into the effect of certain materials on patients (response to Calif. Prop 65 requiring dentists and others to post warning signs).
Recommend the AAO establish an Annual Session oversight committee.
Recommend that membership in the ADA be required only at the time of AAO/PCSO membership application and not continued during the course of AAO membership beyond the application date.
Recommend that nominees for the AAO Distinguished Service Award come only from constituent societies.
Recommend that a special task force be formed to review all products and services currently or to be endorsed by the AAO.

4. Approval of financial support for the 2002 COAST Symposium.

5. Approval of a proposal to re-constitute the PCSO Continuing Education Committee.

Election of Dr. Robert French (Newport Beach, CA) as the new PCSO member of the AAO Council on Membership
Election of Dr. Rod Dubois (Bellevue, WA) as the new PCSO member of the AAO Council on Insurance
Nomination of Dr. Terry McDonald (Salem, OR) as recipient of the 2002 AAO Distinguished Service Award
Nomination of Dr. Donald Joondeph (Bellevue, WA) as recipient of the 2002 Ketcham Award
Nomination of Dr. Vincent Kokich (Tacoma, WA) as recipient of the 2001 ADA Norton Ross Award
Nomination of Dr. Arthur Dugoni (San Francisco, CA) as recipient of the 2001 PCSO Award of Merit
Nomination of Dr. Bjorn Zachrisson (Oslo, Norway) as recipient of the 2002 Jarabak Award.
