Scientific Posterboards
Invitation to Participate: 2025 Scientific Posterboard Program
Scientific Posterboards are displays of important educational value and of significant new investigative works using posterboards. Scientific Posterboards are not listed in the Preview Program but are listed in the On-Site Program.
There will be two categories for poster submission. They are:
- Basic Science
- Clinical Research
Prizes will be given to the top three entries, regardless of category, and will be presented during the Business Session on Friday, October 17, 2025.
- Residents and members who graduated within the past five (5) years may submit a presentation.
- Participants (main author) may submit Scientific Posterboard applications in more than one category.
- Posterboard submission must not have been named as a winner from posterboard competitions at the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), American Association for Dental Oral and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR), or the International Association for Dental Research (IADR). A participant may, however, submit a Posterboard with different topics/contents (not previously award-winning).
- Acceptance of the application obligates the participant to present the Scientific Posterboard at the Western Orthodontic Conference (WOCON) Annual Session, a meeting of the PCSO. The participant will be assigned a time for posterboard judging and an in-person interview on Thursday, October 16. In addition, there will be a dedicated time on Saturday from 10:00- 10:30am for all presenters to be with their posterboards to interact with meeting attendees and answer questions. Cancellations must be submitted via email to PCSO staff at mwassenberg@pcsortho.org by 5:00pm CDT, September 19, 2025.
- Disclosure of Financial and/or Beneficial Interest is a statement included with the application form indicating whether or not the presenter or the presenter’s family has a financial and/or beneficial interest in the product or service related to their Posterboard. Note: The disclosure statement must be completed for the application to be accepted.
- Disclosure of Visual Enhancement is a statement included with the application form indicating whether or not the presenter or the co-presenter uses enhanced, modified, or altered visuals in their Posterboard. Note: The disclosure statement must be completed for the application to be accepted.
- The PCSO will offer a $1,000 scholarship for each residency program in the PCSO territory to support one or more participants to attend the WOCON Annual Session and present a posterboard(s). If there is more than one participant per program, it is up to each residency program to determine how the scholarship funds will be distributed. Any costs incurred to participate are the sole responsibility of the participant, including any registration fees, travel, or hotel expenses. The PCSO will pay the scholarship money directly to the residency program representative(s) on site at WOCON.
- Registration for WOCON must be completed by all participants in the Scientific Posterboard exhibit. Registration and hotel reservations are available now.
- Posterboard participants will be allowed to setup their Posterboard from 12:00-6:00pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. (Posterboard judging will occur by appointment on Thursday, October 16, 2025.) All Posterboard participants will receive a Certificate of Participation. **Times subject to change.**
- The PCSO is not liable for any loss or damage to the participants’ materials and equipment.
- Advertising is not permitted in the Scientific Posterboards. No commercial promotion is allowed. Violation of this policy will result in the immediate removal of the Scientific Posterboard from the area.
- Care of the building is the responsibility of the participant. Any damage by participants or their agents to convention center property must be paid for by the participant causing the damage.
- Handouts are the responsibility of the participant. The PCSO will not pay to duplicate handouts.
