Meet the new representative from Oregon, Dr Jonathan Yih.

Dr. Jonathan Yih grew up in Salem, attended Oregon State University, and graduated from Oregon Health and Science University in 2018. He is currently practicing and teaching near his home in Salem.

Dr. Yih has  been recognized for his leadership abilities, despite his personal reluctance to be in such positions. He acknowledges the importance of learning from those who have gone before him, and is grateful for the guidance of mentors like Eric Bergen.

One of Dr. Yih’s primary focuses as a representative will be to look at the issue of staff shortages in Oregon, as well as policies surrounding dentistry and orthodontics. He believes that it is crucial to ensure that all areas of the state are included in representation, not just the larger cities.

Dr. Yih’s interest in dentistry began at a young age. He recalls being fascinated with the instruments used by his dentist, but it was his orthodontist who truly inspired him. He shadowed a dentist before attending dental school, but ultimately chose to pursue orthodontics after reconnecting with his childhood orthodontist during his studies.

With his passion for orthodontics and commitment to addressing critical issues in the field, Dr. Jonathan Yih is sure to be an effective representative for Oregon in the PCSO. His dedication to serving all areas of the state and willingness to learn from others make him a promising leader in his field.
