Ms. Corinne Hancock
Chaos Coach & Keynote Speaker

What is your relationship with chaos? Our relationship with chaos can be the difference between success and failure. I believe that chaos can always be used to our advantage. Sometimes it just takes looking at our challenges through a wider lens and gaining a new or different perspective. Maybe even a re-envisioning.

As an international aid and development worker who has worked in some of the most chaotic and devastated environments around the globe, I truly had felt that I had seen and experienced humanity from every angle. I witnessed the resiliency of the human spirit time and time again. I saw what humans could endure and adapt to in unimaginable conditions. Over the past 12 to 15 months, I have been blown away by the adaptability and creativity I have seen right here in America, especially in the retail, dental, orthodontic, and health services sectors. Your unwavering ability to keep shifting and adapting to the ever-changing rules and regulations
needs to be seriously celebrated!

Yes, I am a chaos coach, and I love talking about chaos. I am constantly questioning perspectives around the ideas of chaos and helping to provide more context around our beliefs. I see that when we get curious about challenging situations and question our own belief systems, we can truly achieve more productive results, not only in our businesses but also in our lives. All of this ultimately leads to the feeling of fulfillment, and isn’t that what we are all seeking as human beings: to be of value and to feel fulfilled in creating that value? You truly are indispensable; never forget that.

How does the word chaos make you feel? Just feel that for a moment. What words came into your mind? Overwhelmed, stressed, grateful, excited, and maybe even burned out. Yes, it is possible to feel overwhelmed and excited at the same time. Naming your emotions during stressful times is valuable. When you name them, it gives you a place to start. How can you expect to get to the end of something if you don’t even know where you are starting from?

So, how do you stay motivated when you feel that everything is not only outside of your control but sometimes even chaotic? First, it is important to remember what you are trying to accomplish and why it is important. Second, recognize that chaotic times create real emotions and feelings; you feel insecure and uncertain, especially when circumstances could affect your health or finances. However, you must ask yourself, how real is the threat? Is it imminent or are you worrying about something that might happen. You must clarify the actual threats to put them into perspective.

Acknowledge what is really going on, name some of the feelings, refocus on the mission, and clarify the threats. From there, you will feel motivated to act with clarity and will do so. You cannot avoid chaos, but you can choose how you relate to it, and it really is a matter of perspective. What kind of relationship do you want with chaos? I promise that you are so much stronger than you think you are. Keep thriving.
