In honor of Women’s History Month, we highlight the remarkable contributions of women in the field of orthodontics. Today, we focus on the achievements and experiences of Dr. Janet Schrodi, a Los Angeles based orthodontist. Dr Schrodi was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. After receiving her undergraduate degree in psychology from UCLA, Dr Schrodi attended Harvard University and obtained dual degrees in Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) and Master of Public Health (MPH). After Harvard, she came back home to California to complete her pediatric and orthodontic residency programs at UCLA. Currently, Dr. Schrodi practices at two dental offices located in Granada Hills and Chatsworth.

While pursuing her career in orthodontics, Dr Schrodi faced challenges in managing the business side of her profession. Nevertheless, she prioritized her faith and family, which led her to develop an associate-driven practice that utilizes innovative technologies to ensure the success of her practices, she has assembled an exceptional team of doctors and support staff, while implementing efficient systems.

Among the challenging cases she has encountered, one that stands out is the ongoing treatment of a patient with Apert’s syndrome. Opting for Invisalign rather than traditional braces, Dr. Schrodi and the patient’s parents understood the importance of avoiding additional discomfort caused by frequent CT and/or MRI scans in preparation for craniofacial surgeries.

Outside her professional life, Dr. Schrodi embraces her multicultural background as a Korean American who is fluent in both Spanish and French. Additionally, she and her family share a deep passion for ocean wildlife, often engaging in freediving and spearfishing. From swimming with turtles and dolphins to encountering majestic sperm whales and sharks, their love for the ocean is a testament to their adventurous spirit.

While her professional accomplishments are impressive, Dr. Janet Schrodi’s favorite non-orthodontic memories are rooted in quality family time. The flexibility offered by homeschooling her children allowed her family to embark on enriching experiences, including extended travels to France, Pakistan, and India.

Dr. Janet Schrodi exemplifies the dedication, talent, and compassion of women orthodontists. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let us honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of professionals like Dr. Schrodi in shaping the world of orthodontics.
